Ortho shapes is distributeur van Rodin 4D producten in de Benelux. Met de software en apparatuur kan Ortho Shapes u voorzien van een volledige CAD/CAM oplossing. Als bedrijf kunt u ervoor kiezen de afmetingen van de patiënt tot aan het digitale model in huis te houden zodat Ortho Shapes het model freest of u schaft zelf een freesmachine aan via Ortho Shapes.

Wanneer uw bedrijf besluit CAD/CAM oplossingen te gaan toepassen is het voor een totaal oplossing bij Ortho Shapes aan het juiste adres. Met diverse voor CPO’s ontwikkelde meetmethoden, in de vorm van wit licht scanners en softwarematige oplossingen kunnen wij u sneller helpen te produceren.

Na het meten is het vervolgtraject het volgende waar enorme tijdswinst te boeken valt, namelijk het maken van “het pasmodel”. De traditionele gipsmodellen vragen twee maal uithardingtijd, zodra deze van de patiënt zijn losgenomen én nadat hierin opnieuw gips is afgegoten. Ortho Shapes heeft met de tools van Rodin 4D dé gereedschappen in huis om dit gehele productieproces te automatiseren en tevens te versnellen.

We chose the Rodin4D software after an extensive research because of its versatility and user-friendliness and because it allows to rapidly make models that would be hardly realised with similar programs.

The software has been integrated in our new CAD-CAM system, personally projected by us, and realised interfacing the best 3D laser scanning systems and carving robotic systems on the market.

We use Rodin4D to produce lower limb prostheses, paediatric devices, trunk braces and lower limb orthoses, about 7000 pieces per year in all.

We were able to try RODIN4D half a year for free, so there was no need for a quick decision. From the beggining it was very important for us to work with a library of our own CTO-models, which was not a problem for RODIN. To get started they helped us creating different measurement-based libraries for various types of our own Bodyjackets, Spinals, AK prosthetics and Helmets. The possibility of inserting jpeg photos from our scoliosis patients was very useful to us.
At first we ordered the carvings at their headquarters near Bordeaux by email. Although there were some hesitations initially due to learning process, we never considered these to be unreasonable and we soon developped a good success rate. We saw results becoming better in short time. Once you get started with RODIN you will notice it is a very user friendly system with lots of possibilities.
RODIN advised us to complete their system with an ABB Robotcarver, so that we could carve our own models in one piece. This Robotcarver is now located in our main office near Gent, and working perfectly. Because of the success of RODIN4D we are already thinking of purchasing a second carving table in the near future.
The time it takes to go from mold to fabrication has been significantly shortened, allowing us to see more patients in our already busy schedules. We are seeing a better fit or our orthoses and prostheses. What more could one whish ?
CTO has been using the RODIN4D system for almost 1+ year and is more than pleased with the system. It gives our company a doorway to the future, and a higher performance rate for our patients.

We considered the adoption of a CAD/ CAM system as we wanted to use a completely innovative work tool.

We also had into account the fact that this new technique is highly appreciated by our prescribers, who find it very professional and quite modern.

The project was implemented in only two months. At the beginning, the staff was a bit distrustful and skeptical. However, as it was put into practice, the CAD/CAM has shown to be an indispensable tool, especially for trunk orthosis, which is our main activity.

Thanks to Rodin4D, we achieved greater interest and acknowledgment of our prescribers and patients. The CAD/CAM provides – according to them – more professionalism and prompts them to become even more interested. As more questions are made, it is easier to make them participate in the conception of the device.

Furthermore, the CAD/CAM allowed us to gain time and precision in our work. This allows us to release time, offer higher availability to our patients and have greater comfort in the workplace everyday.

Nowadays, we are confident in developing our small structure as the CAD/CAM makes us more competitive and it should let us resist in the presence of larger companies.

Some members of our team already had a good knowledge about CAD CAM, as they have especially used the Vorrum system since its introduction in Europe. Our management chose Rodin4D and we are actually very satisfied with it.

In comparison with competitors, the advantages of Rodin4D consist of: the existence of a location formula, the scanner can be carried easily in its briefcase, the reduced size of the files to be issued and the quality of the technical and technological support especially provided by Anthony y Anousack.

In order to start this project up, only two months were necessary and our staff reacted positively. Currently obtained results led us to invest in complete equipment. Our need for milling machine will allow us to leap over the organizational and qualitative plan.
